Does it require a network plan or wifi connection?
No. In fact, it’s better to be offline. The shutter button is powered by the headphone jack so there is no bluetooth pairing or network plans needed. If you want to download any apps or share your photos, simply connect to wifi.

Will the product and colors be different from what is shown in the campaign?
The final shape may change slightly as we go into the manufacturing. The color layout on camera will not change and the final color(s) will be decided by the community.

Which devices can Pixlplay work with?
Apple: iPhone® 4, 5, 5s, 5c, SE, 6 and 6S and 7 and iPod Touch®. iPhone 7 users will need to use the ‘lightning to 3.5mm headphone jack’ included with your device to operate the camera shutter button. Pixlplay does NOT fit the iPhone® 6 or 7 Plus. Android*: Samsung Galaxy S®4, S®5, S®6, and S®7, the Google Pixel (it does NOT fit the Pixl XL)
*Some Android phones require setting up the shutter button to be controlled by the volume button and the rear (selfie camera) may be covered.

How does it work?
Pixlplay uses the headphone jack to power the camera shutter button. This is a built in feature to all Apple products and most Android. Some Android phones require a change in the settings to have the volume control power the camera shutter. The iPhone 7 requires the Lightning™ to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter included with your device to work the shutter button (optional). It’s as simple as that!

No. You can simply use the camera app included with your phone or any app available in the Apple App or Google Play store. If our stretch goal is successfully funded, the companion app will be included.

What ages is it designed for?
Toddlers. Pixlplay will be tested for kids ages 3+. Pixlplay helps protect your phone from your youngest of kids and the rubber handle helps improve dexterity and fine motor skills.
Ages 4-5. The working shutter button and knobs with clicking sound teach cause-effect connection and the included activities teach cognitive and language skills.
Ages 6+. Photography is very popular among kids ages 6-9 and the Pixlplay activities teach kids about the fundamentals of photography.
Even adults! The classic 35mm camera design appeals to everyone and helps protect your phone from drops damage and water!

Since you’ll be using one of your smartphones, you get the photos off the same way you normally would (cord to your computer & download, connect to wifi and email/ iMessage or airdrop, or however you choose!).

When will my card be charged?
You will be charged at the end of the campaign. It may take a few days and if there is an issue processing your card, Kickstarter will message you with an “Action Needed” message to login and update any requested info. What is your refund policy?
Due to the nature of Kickstarter, we cannot offer refunds to backers once the project ends, with the exception of the unlikely instance of a defective reward being shipped out. Once the campaign ends, your pledges are put to use immediately to ensure that Pixlplay enters into production as soon as possible. Therefore, we cannot offer refunds once the campaign has ended.

I’m an international backer… do I need to worry about customs/ VAT charges?
This depends on your local tax code. Any applicable duties/VAT are the sole responsibility of the backer, and not our team. We have absolutely no control over charging each backer additional duties/VAT at the time the pledge is made, and so these fees (if applicable) may be imposed at the time of receiving the package. If you are unsure whether or not you will be charged duties/VAT at the time of receiving your reward, please get in touch with your local post office.

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
